Budget Tips

-Michael's 40% off coupons for everything! Also, sign up for their emails, because they've been having a lot of 20-30% off your entire purchase coupons, which are great for lots of small items.
-Use Vistaprint freebies and don’t pay for anything but shipping. But, sometimes there are more budget friendly options than VP, so still do a little comparison shopping.

-Do your research on vendors. Don't make a snap decision just because someone is cheap or it will hurt you in the long run.

-Leave a $500 cushion in your budget. We haven't used ours yet, but it has really helped keep my stress down when we went over budget in a few different categories.

DIY Tips

-Don't let anyone tell you that you're starting on DIY projects too early. As long as you know that you won’t change your mind about colors, get a head start on those things.
-Collect lots of inspiration and look for tutorials. Chances are if you've seen a picture of something online, you can find someone who has made it themselves.
-If you’re making a cardbox, spend the extra $$ for fabric. It works way better than paper and won’t show wear at the creases and corners.

Misc. Tips

-Make sure you're confident in your decisions. I wasn't happy with our cake baker, because she took forever to email me back and wasn't very professional, so we switched and said goodbye to our $150 deposit. I also wasn't completely satisfied with our menu choice, so we changed it (which required an invite reprint). But I am much happier after having made these decisions and it's one less thing to stress about the week of the wedding.
-Online RSVP wasn't my best decision. It would have been better to use RSVP postcards, but I liked the completely free option. However, theknot.com isn't the best site as far as consistency and lack of glitches and it has caused us a lot of problems with the RSVP. Not to mention that the older folks didn't like it. If you're going to do it, be sure to include another option, like your phone number.
